Luminous Ones,
I’ve been musing a lot recently on the journey of the last decade in particular, but really a lifetime, of learning what it actually means to be a visionary and how one’s experience in the world is uniquely filtered through that lens.
It has certainly been a learning journey, one of the most significant by far for me, and I suspect therefore for many fellow visionaries. I would like to share some thoughts around that today with you, that they might offer further illumination, clarity and support for you on your own journey of self-actualisation.
You see, nobody really “becomes” a visionary out of nowhere; a visionary is “born this way”. However, one is not necessarily born knowing how to understand and make practical use of the visionary capacity. The “becoming” is the self-actualisation of what we have always been, in its highest and most refined form, through taking the path of self-discovery (and even then, that journey is an ongoing process that will never end). The gifts may be innate, but learning what to do with them is a whole other matter.
Not being taught how to handle the specific traits with which we are equipped can cause a great deal of confusion, inner torment and misunderstanding both of ourselves and of us by others. It can take a lifetime of development to learn to hone and wield the unique skills and ultimately personal power that is available to the one who chooses the road of self-refinement, and I believe, this is a huge part of what the visionary is called to – that we might create of ourselves the full manifestation of our own potential in all its glory; a luminous emanation of what the Creator intended us to be.
For the visionary, the lifetime journey is about learning to function wholly as our unique selves, which is often in a very different way. A great deal of introspective self-enquiry is called for to understand what that means for us, distinct to what it may mean for the next, and to implement that understanding in the flow of our lives.
Some of the key characteristics of a visionary are:
- A form of “future vision” – seeing potential and possibilities and even likelihoods (a type of foresight or prophetic ability) before it has materialised in physicality
- An ability to call that forth through holding the vision and remaining steady in focus through the process of its actualisation
- An ability to see things that others cannot (can include potential, but also blind spots)
Innovative and novel thinking and feeling - Extreme perseverance through trials and obstacles that would cripple others
- An uncanny ability to function with blinkers or blind spots themselves when it comes to the current parameters of a limited reality, in pursuit of the vision that has been seen (a supremely useful skill used in the right way, but also the cause of much interpersonal conflict if used unconsciously)
It is no secret that with great gifts comes great challenges, and all of these things, while incredible gifts, come with their own very unique set of difficulties that have to be navigated.
In my experience, the absence of self-understanding of the visionary capacity and how it impacts every area of our lives produces significant struggle in life that doesn’t have to be there if simple recognition of our own functioning (which again, may be very different to others) was present. My hope is that this sharing will serve to spark greater self-recognition within you of your own gifts, and the difficulties that they might have brought to your life, that new ease may become your new normal going forward.
To share an example; one of the biggest learnings for me within my own journey has been around not acting on things prematurely. I didn’t realise, earlier in my life, that I was seeing future potentialities – a classic hallmark of the visionary experience. Because of this, I often immediately acted on impulses without realising that there was a timing involved, and what I was seeing (and inadvertently blurting out in some situations) was for a long time in the future. Visionaries clearly see what the future can be, and yet, there is a huge element of mastery of timing that needs to be properly embodied to actualise our full capacity! To act too soon can cause possibilities to be stillborn, because we have pushed something out of its exact place in the intricately designed web of life.
Lack of mastery of the nature of timing (a precursor to which is fully recognising the gift of “future vision”/foresight/prophecy) also causes a great deal of stress through unintentionally creating linear time (living in linear time is the root of all stress). To recognise potential within the context of the natural flow of life according to natural timing allows us to simply relax into the moment, trusting that materialisation will always happen at the exact moment it is supposed to. This brings an end to the classic visionary torment of thinking that we “should be” doing, being, because we haven’t recognised that we saw the future, and that that moment hasn’t come yet
This is but one example. Every other component of the journey has its own set of nuances that beckon us to learn to work with them in the most effective manner. For any level of this to be possible, we first have to have self understanding of our nature. Most of us have had no examples, nobody to look to as a pointer, and additionally, may also have received much negative feedback about qualities that are in fact gifts, but through not being understood, were not able to be received even by ourselves. The fact is that when we self-receive, we become exponentially more masterful in the stewardship of our gifts, and that, I believe, is the ultimate goal of self-refinement.
To be continued…

I know these are times of huge transition where having support is so beneficial and have heard the call to have an option that is a bit more accessible for those with less of a budget right now, I do hope it helps.
I’ve also added an option to join us for a Full Moon Gathering only! Our next Full Moon Gathering is Wednesday 20th October at 6pm GMT / 1pm EST (Full Moon Gathering option is found at the bottom of the page)
