Many, on their journey of awakening, come to a point where they “remember” their old self, who they used to be in a past dream, and this can be an exhilarating realisation. Usually in this case what has happened is that through some kind of peak experience, often a third eye opening, we have accessed the Akashic records. The Akashic records contain both our personal and cosmic history – we each have our own unique set of Akashic records (part of our personal matrix), and then there is also a larger Akashic record that contains the history of all that has ever transpired cosmically.
This is relatively easy to read, hence why there is so much information out there in the spiritual web-o-sphere about the Akashic records and their purpose and how to access them, however, what is not realised is that when dealing with this area we are dealing with vast realms of illusion – the history of life in separation. Hence to take any of it with more than a grain of salt is a sure-fire way to halt further evolution beyond the scope of a dualistic experience. Any information gained there can only serve as inspiration and then be let go, lest it become a weighty burden.
So long as we try to carry our personal history around, possibly our ancient history in this case, we are locked into the bands of Akasha, which represent the mirrors of the four directions. Life in directional space is a flurry of distortion, because the mirrors are always bouncing back to us a slightly twisted image. Thus nothing is as it seems, and nothing can be taken to truly mean as it appears. It is this kind of existence that is governed by strife, where we are forced to grow through hardship and painful forced change. This is because the energy source is a reality of polarity is tension – the tension sustained by movement between two opposing poles. For a long time in cosmic history, this was a very valid energy source, and the memories we may have of a prior existence utilised this, however they are no longer relevant as we move into new ways of being that derive their sustenance from a completely different Source of Power.
Many have commented to me that they feel they are somehow at a disadvantage in their spiritual evolution because they “can’t remember anything”. Unequivocally I have told all of these that “not remembering” is the first step to becoming new. We are to lose all memory as we move forward, trusting in the ability to draw fresh information as needed spontaneously from depth within – in direct communion with the Infinite, an unprecedented possibility. This is in fact the only information that is actually accurate, as all else is the recorded playback of a misperception, a distorted interpretation of a mirrored past steeped in illusion. This is what the bands of Akasha contain, they are magnetic bands that by their nature store memory, just like a tape, which includes the memory of trauma (it is not possible to cherry-pick if we are going to be drawing from these limited reserves). Taking heed of this information therefore is sort of like listening to a cassette deck and trying to use it as a guidepost for navigating the latest development in digital media technology. Surely it won’t help all that much.
The unfortunate reality is that if one so happens to access the Akashic records while in ego identity, usually what follows is a reinforcement of the same; a strengthening of the illusion of personality, which then acts as a direct obstacle to further evolution beyond the dynamics of a mirrored reality in the cosmic dream. We remember our “soul”, for example, but do not remember that in previous times we were viewing our soul as a backwards image that obscured true identity lying beneath it. Another phenomenon is that some unconsciously remember themselves in the mirrors, and cling to this without realising what they are actually upholding. This is very common among anyone who has embarked upon a relative degree of spiritual exploration or experienced an awakening of any sort.
A less sticky approaching to deal with the potential resurfacing of a remembrance or recognition of “who we are” is to hold very lightly, and view it not as an identity, but as the “essence” of something. Our essence can be an alchemical fusion of Infinite things, that doesn’t bind us in any way, is fluid and malleable according to how we might like to shape it. Holding very lighty, fluidly changing essence that is drawn from inspiration in any moment, is far more expansive than static identity. Identity is what will trap our awareness.
How empowering to know that we are free to redefine ourselves in every second? Past is truly an illusion, and future is yet to be. Our future unfolds to degrees of clarity and refinement depending on our experience of the moment, and this moment can change everything, regardless of what came before. How empowering to know that we are neither bound by memory, or bound to inferiority in the face of obsolete memories held by others. Each being in existence now has the same potential to dream life anew in majesty, free from memory and the weight of identity.
To conclude, the reason that many plateau in their awakening is due to the energy that becomes bound up in believing past identities, which is then not free to go towards the expansion of consciousness. The less binding ties we have, the more energy we have, and the more energy we have the further the scope of our consciousness can reach.
